If there will be less and less students in Davis, why do we need more parcel taxes?If you educate less students doesn't it mean you need less money?Apr 14, 2019 - At the school board meeting on March 21, Davis Demographics' annual report and presentation projected that the enrollment in 2028-2029 will range from 8,222 to 8,330 students, lower than the 8,580 students in 2018-2019.

In November 2016, voters in Davis approved Measure H, our most recent increase in the school parcel tax. The $620 yearly levy on homeowners was supposed to suffice for eight years. Not even 18 months have elapsed since 71.9 percent favored raising that annual tax by $96. Now the district is discussing another hike, this time an added $240 per year for a total of $860. If the schools are now increasingly for commuter kids, why is that the Davis homeowners are being asked to pay for the entire payroll of the school district employes salary increases and pensions to support those who do not pay the parcel taxes. |
